                        Alan Chen - Piano

Alan has been teaching piano and violin for over eight years, and is experienced with students of all ages and musical backgrounds. Performing has always been a part of his life, and began studying competitive classical piano at four years of age. He is also a membership of the Young Artist’s Guild of the Music Teacher's Association of California, for which only six members are selected from the entire state yearly.

Alan studied music at Santa Clara University under Music Department Chair, Professor Hans Beopple and with Professor John McCarthy, Director Emeritis of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. His performance experience includes countless solo concerts and extensive orchestral work as resident pianist and solo artist. Between 1997 and 2003, Alan consistently earned gold medals in the US Open Music Competition (among other competitions) in a variety of categories including Open Solo, Showcase Concerto, and Showcase Solo
